Viewing sport online catches on
As AFL and NRL finals fever gets underway, new technology is revolutionising sports viewing.
Fans are embracing the way new technology brings their favourite sports straight into the palm of their hands via their mobile phones, or to their fingertips online.
No longer chained to the couch or the TV, fans can now keep up to date with what's happening in their favourite sport no matter where they are, thanks to the innovation of mobile phone and internet technology.
As proof that watching sport on your phone or online is catching on, BigPond has reported video usage figures up 100% on the previous year for its Australian rules and rugby league football websites - receiving 1.08 million unique users for the NRL site and 1.09 million downloaded video streams in August.
BigPond is finding that the number of older users is on the rise, and people are accessing the services to check scores or catch up on the latest events.
