The case against structural separation

Telstra's Executive Director of Public Affairs, Dr Tony Warren, explains why structural separation damages the chances for investment in a national broadband network, and why separation is not necessary with the move from copper to next generation technology in a thought provoking article published by the Telecommunications Society of Australia.

Dr Warren points to the strength of competition in the Australian market, and the opportunity for further competition and new services for consumers on a Telstra national broadband network.

The Telecommunications Society of Australia has just published the latest edition of the Telecommunications Journal of Australia, in which Dr Warren's article "Fighting the monopoly bogeyman" debates the issue of structural separation. The TSA has made this article available for download.
