nowwearetalking turns one (million)
This week www.nowwearetalking.com.au is celebrating its one millionth visit.
Since launching in December 2005, the website has established a reputation as one of corporate Australia’s most innovative and most talked about online forums.
Visitors include Telstra staff, customers, shareholders, politicians, Telstra competitors and media, all eager to share their views and opinions on issues affecting Telstra and the wider Australian telecommunication’s market.
“With nowwearetalking, we've adopted a much more open and transparent approach to communication and its one of the main reasons for the website’s success,” said nowwearetalking editor Tania Elliott.
Some of the most popular sections of nowwearetalking are the conversation-based discussion forums and blogs. The forums provide a dynamic and immediate way to stimulate online dialogue about emerging issues. The blogs offer personalised views and opinions from Telstra staff, many of whom are leaders and experts in their respective fields.
“There’s little doubt that the consumer appetite for interactive forms of media is growing. People also want informed debate and nowwearetalking has a crucial role to play in providing information and opinion to complement traditional forms of media such as newspapers and TV,” Ms Elliott said.
While it took 18 months for nowwearetalking to reach its first million, current projections suggest it will take just 8 months to reach the two million visit milestone.
“We’re certainly proud of reaching our one millionth visit milestone but ultimately we judge the success of the website by the extent we inform the national agenda. In the end, we can’t tell people what to think but we have been successful in influencing what people think about” Ms Elliott said.
“Of course it’s still important to continually re-define and evolve the website. So visitors will always find something new and innovative on the site. Just watch this space!”
