New image chief at Telstra
Telstra’s incoming brand and marketing chief, Amanda Johnston, is another high-performer to step into a senior leadership position in the new Telstra. She will replace Bill Obermeier, who announced he will depart Telstra when his contract is completed next month.
Amanda has led the BigPond marketing team since 2003, and took charge of sales as well as marketing in 2006. Over that time she has enjoyed phenomenal success. BigPond's successful 'rabbits ad' has won many independent awards both internationally and at home. Since 2003 Telstra's broadband market share has increased to 48% and broadband subscriber numbers have grown tenfold.
Strong teamwork, both internally and with advertising agency partners, is a hallmark of Amanda’s style. Amanda will be Executive Director of Brands and Marketing Communications.
