In an Australian first, Telstra has today used a hologram to beam its Chief Technology Officer, Dr Hugh Bradlow, live into Adelaide from Melbourne to talk at a major function for senior business executives.

Dr Bradlow addressed and interacted with the audience for around 15 minutes and conducted a real time media conference following the function.

Group Managing Director for Telstra Enterprise and Government, David Thodey, said the live hologram symbolised what had become possible using the high data speed and capacity of the Telstra Next IP™ network which now allows real time transmission of huge data files by business, and in areas such as health and education.

“It demonstrates what we at Telstra call ‘Next Dimension Working™’ – a new and more productive way of working using technology to achieve better outcomes and an enhanced user experience from where ever you choose to be or whatever medium you choose to use.

“It also reinforces Telstra’s position as an industry leader, bringing innovation to Australian businesses and consumers, underpinned by Telstra’s world leading high speed networks.”

“As we know, seeing is believing, which is why we have hit the road on our Next Dimension Working™ roadshow to talk to customers and show them what has become possible right now, and how we can partner with them to increase the productivity of their business."

The hologram was delivered over the Telstra Next IP™ network using the Musion® Eyeliner™ System, a high definition holographic video projection system that allows three-dimensional moving images to appear within a live stage setting.
