Phil Burgess Sky News

As Telstra prepares to switch off the CDMA network at midnight on Monday 28 April 2008, 'Dr Phil' Burgess, Telstra's Group Managing Director of Public Policy & Communications, spoke to Sky Business. In an interview that ran over the long weekend, Dr Phil said that the old CDMA network was the network of the 20th century. We are now moving to the network of the 21st century – the Next G™ network.

In the wide ranging interview, Dr Phil also spoke about the recent appointments to the Telstra board – additions made under the leadership of Telstra’s chairman Donald McGauchie.

When asked about the National Broadband Network request for proposal issued by the Government, Dr Phil said that getting fibre closer to people’s homes is important for the country, for industry and consumers.

He finished off with an insight into his recent holiday – a Harley motorbike trip in the United States with his son.
