Do you ever have trouble finding a babysitter?

Delia Timms, a young mother with two children, found herself constantly looking in supermarket windows and local newspapers searching for babysitter advertisements, until she had a brilliant idea which not only solved her problem but resulted in a new national business.

Delia realised there was a business opportunity for babysitters, nannies and parents to meet each other and decided to develop a website which would introduce them.

The website, called ‘Find A Babysitter’, is an online introduction and job posting site where parents find nannies and babysitters. The website enables people to ‘connect’ and communicate in a fast effective way and has truly revolutionised the task of finding a babysitter.

Delia said the process is extremely simple.

“Babysitters register their details online and parents join and pay online to access the database and write up their own job advertisements.

“Parents then send emails or sms text messages to the babysitters, via the website,” explained Delia.

As well as running her entire business on the internet, Delia’s contact telephone number diverts to an internet phone which means she collects phone messages from her computer. She returns the calls using a mobile phone.

“The benefits of using technology to run my business are endless, I can operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week, I operate on a national basis, and all my processes are automated,” said Delia.

The best aspect for Delia and her family is she can operate her business from any location.

“Recently I went on an overseas holiday with my family and continued work as usual. It’s a great way to work.

Originally, Delia planned to market her business the old fashioned, labour-intensive way - handing out leaflets and advertising in local papers. But thanks to the power of internet search engines, Delia found her business took off and grew almost as soon as it was launched.

“Everyone who keys the word ‘babysitter’ into a search engine seems to find my site. Search engines are extraordinarily powerful these days. I found there was no need to undertake any other type of marketing” said Delia.
