"Remote" no longer with Next G™

We live on a remote cattle station in Central Western Queensland – about 6.5 hours drive from Brisbane.

When using Dial-Up, I would go outside to feed the dogs and hang out the washing before I could open an email. Now with Next G broadband service, it is instant. The speed makes it so much easier for my family and I to surf the internet.

Given where we live, we can’t get newspapers delivered everyday. For example, we get Friday and Sunday papers delivered on a Tuesday! With our new faster internet service, we can read the newspapers online and keep in touch with what is going on around Australia and the rest of the world. We now feel like we are reading the newspapers in advance!

My husband now uses the internet to check on the weather in real time. He is also a big racing fan, and enjoys accessing the results of the major local and overseas races on the internet rather than waiting for the newspapers. It seems like he’s got the results before the race is over!

With the faster speeds we can do our banking online more confidently, and keeping in touch with friends and family overseas is so much easier. In the past it would take too long to download photos – kids had grown up before we could download their photos – but now we can see them almost instantly.

With a WIFI enabled laptop our children can roam around the house without the clunky cords checking out roadmaps online and bidding on eBay.

About the G whiz stories

The G whiz stories here are based on Telstra Next G™ customers’ own experiences of coverage on the Next G™ network. Like any other mobile network, Next G™ mobile telephone coverage depends in part on where you are, what particular handset you are using and whether your handset has an external antenna attached.
