Australian diving champion on the silver screen with Next G™
My daughter Melissa often travels interstate and overseas to compete in national and international diving competitions.
Last year she became the youngest national champion in Australian diving history when she scored a perfect 10 at the 2006 Commonwealth Games trials.
I don’t go with her when she competes interstate or overseas, and I can only see her in action when events are televised live, so while she’s travelling our Next G phones allow us to stay in touch.
This year, the FINA World Championships in Melbourne were web cast live on Telstra’s Next G network. It was Melissa’s first world championship diving event, so I was thrilled to be able to watch her live in action on my mobile.
It was really quite amazing - the picture was so crisp and clear.
Melissa made it to the finals of the 10 metre Individual Platform diving event, and won silver in the 10 metre Synchronised Platform diving event. It was just spectacular to watch.
I’m so proud of her, she works so hard, and now she’s aiming for the 2008 Olympics in Beijing.
