CommsDay Summit 2008

The 6th annual CommsDay Summit - Get ready for the Gigabit Age, was held over two days, 15 - 16 April in Sydney. The summit was presented by Communications Day, a leading source of telecom news, opinion and analysis in Australia and Telstra was one of the high profile sponsors of this important annual event.

Almost 300 delegates attended this year's event, with 40 of the top industry leaders speaking on topics such as Australia's broadband future, broadband types and available speeds, regulation of the telecommunication industry, and fibre to the node vs. fibre to the home.

Telstra CEO, Sol Trujillo was the first speaker at the Summit's Plenary Session. The first day also included international speaker Dr Jeffrey Cole and a FTTN discussion panel, in which Telstra's Regulatory Affairs Executive Director, Tony Warren took part in the debate. The second day featured the Federal Communications Minister Stephen Conroy and Telstra's Public Policy & Communications GMD Dr Phil Burgess.
