Sorry I have been a bit slack with my posts, as I have been “on the road” supporting the Telstra Next IP™ network events for our Enterprise and Government customers.
Key take-out? Only Telstra can provide a fully integrated wireline and wireless network that we can scale assuring reliability and performance, as well as ensuring that security is not compromised. The other key aspect, replace “can” with “have”. That is, the runs are on the board and we have delivered the first two key elements of our five year transformation plan.
I would like to thank all the customers who came and visited my teams on the IP Networks and Managed Networks stands. It was great to get positive feedback that the Telstra Next IP™ network's performance has been top notch across the key performance metrics of latency, packet delivery, jitter and that customers still consider Telstra a premium provider of end to end managed networks.
What did we discuss with our customers? A lot of territory was covered from access (including the augmentation of NextG™ to 14.4M with intent to go to 40M), to our highly scalable core network, to what is of course the most fundamentally critical aspect, what can such a network do for our customers business.
The Telstra Next IP™ network supports what we like to call Next Dimension Working, a fundamental change to the way customers do business. You can seamlessly connect to your customers on their terms - when they want to and how they want to. You can now remove communication and knowledge barriers for your employees, wherever they need to work.
In the next few blogs, I would like to discuss the following aspects around our customers’ transformation to Next Dimension Working:
- Changing Business Expectations
- The Business Challenges
- The Telstra Next IP™ network (including diving “Under the Hood” and looking at Core and Access Aggregation network aspects)
- Transformation and the Future
- Evolution Path
- Service Delivery (ie. How Telstra is refocusing our business to ensure customers are provided with the resources and support they require)
- So What?
What does it all look like in a picture, hmmm, something a bit like this (see thumbnail picture on right - click to view full image, GIF - 193KB)
Yep, I have some serious writing to do !!!!!!!!!!!!
Just on a final note, I would like to thank Adrian for his question on IPv6. I will get a more formal response, but in short:
- We have no plans to offer any IPv6 products at the moment
- We think it will be important in the next 3-5 years
- We have a large block of address space
- We have had a trial running for a couple of years
- We are preparing for it
